DPhil Student
Oliver (Ollie) Thomas
Ollie joined the House group in 2022 as a DPhil student under the joint supervision of Prof House and Professor Sir Peter Bruce, working on the development on novel layered oxide cathode materials for Na-ion batteries using exclusively earth-abundant elements. Prior to joining the House group, Ollie completed an MChem at Durham University. At Durham, Ollie worked on antiperovskite oxychloride solid-state Li-ion electrolytes and solid-state NMR of MOFs for carbon capture, both under the supervision of Dr K. Johnstone, whilst his master's project was completed on inorganic-polymer hybrid solid-state electrolytes for Li-ion batteries at the CEA, Grenoble, France, with support of the ERASMUS+ program under the co-supervision of Prof I Evans, Prof L. Gonon, Dr V. Mareau, and Dr H Mendil-Jakani. The common theme throughout Ollie's work has been the use of advanced spectroscopy and characterisation techniques to understand materials for sustainability.
