DPhil Student

Robbie Shaw

Robbie joined the House group in September 2025 as a DPhil student under the co-supervision of Professor Saiful Islam. He is a member of the Inorganic Materials for Advanced Manufacturing Centre for Doctoral Training. His research focuses on finding improvements to sodium-ion cathodes using a combined experimental-computational approach.

Before joining the group, Robbie graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MChem in Materials Chemistry (2025). His masters project was completed under the supervision of Professor Finlay Morrison and Dr. Jan-Willem Bos and investigated the thermal conductivity of tetragonal tungsten bronzes. As part of his undergraduate degree, he completed a year-long placement at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source investigating solid state electrolytes for fluoride-ion batteries.
